It is celebrated as a protection from hail because St. Elisej is one of the three hail bringers that bring along the dark full of hail clouds and in the winter they bring snow storms.
      It is also celebrated as a protection from the disease "liso", meaning hair loss. The spirit that causes and that can heal that disease is called Liso. Everyone that has problems with hair loss lights a candle, goes to the field and pour water from some healing herbs on themselves.
